MY NAVARRO EXPERIENCES
“I am from Fairfield, Texas and decided to attend Navarro College because of the close location to home and the great reputation of the ADN program. I was also able to get a great deal of support from academic scholarships through Navarro College.
Navarro College provided me with a great foundation to grow on. Dr. Tommy Stringer was a great influence on my life as a young student. He was a supportive mentor and taught me the valuable lesson of paying it forward.
My favorite memories at Navarro College were centered around the many learning experiences that I was provided as a nursing student. Much time was spent in clinical experiences and in the nursing skills lab. This is where my foundation as a nurse began. Today I still stay in touch with many classmates, some of which work in the same health system as I do. I also stay in touch with Dr. Stringer. He has left a lasting impression on my life.
Although it was a great honor to be in the nursing program, it was an extremely difficult and trying experience. My classmates and I grew very close as we supported each other throughout the program.
I would absolutely encourage other students to attend Navarro College. It was a great place to start my education and provided me with a great foundation. I was able to live at home and commute, saving on costs. I was also awarded several scholarships from NC (M.C. & Mattie Caston and a Navarro College Foundation) which paid for almost all of my tuition and books while I attended. Starting at a community college was a great experience and environment for myself, personally, as I come from a small town. Navarro College was very fitting.”
MY PROFESSION
I also received a Graduate scholarship that I was able to use to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I am thankful for all of the opportunities that Navarro College provided me to succeed. I truly believe it is where I learned the value of hard work! I am now the Clinical Nurse Educator in the Emergency Department at AdventHealth Central Texas. I am married with 3 children, a 4-year-old and 2-year-old twins!
